Consulting
Would you like to incorporate diverse forms of expertise into your research and actively involve relevant, affected, or interested stakeholders? Are you aiming to enrich your projects with collaborative methods and promote engagement, societal relevance, social innovation, or sustainability transformation?
We support you in identifying openings and stakeholders, developing customised co-creative elements for your research process and considering the necessary resources for their feasibility. Based on your research topic, stakeholder constellation, and objectives, we serve as "sparring partners" during the initiation, design, implementation, or evaluation of your projects.
Are you looking to embed transfer from the outset in large research projects or to strengthen their transdisciplinary orientation? We are happy to join as a partner for co-creative components in suitable research proposals. Contact us at an early stage of proposal writing for a non-committal exchange of ideas.

“World Literacy Day: A Special Event in Hamburg. In 2023, we decided to celebrate the first-ever World Literacy Day at the University of Hamburg. This has been a long-standing goal since our Level-One studies conducted in 2010 and 2018. For moderation and process design, we received valuable guidance from the highly experienced Co-Creation & Engagement team of the Knowledge Exchange Agency to ensure everything ran smoothly—especially given the challenge of convincing the Senate, university presidents, and stakeholders about formats like the Literacy Promptathon and the use of AI in literacy efforts. Now, the third World Literacy Day is approaching, with active participation from the Hamburg Adult Education Center, the university presidium, and the senator responsible. We look forward to doing it all again!”

Prof. Dr. Lars Kutzbach
Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences, Department of Earth System Sciences, Professor and Head of the Soil Group in Climate Systems
“When it comes to designing co-creative components of our soil science projects, we are happy to draw on the expertise of the Team Co-Creation & Engagement. Claudia and Ursi serve as valuable “sparring partners” in project design, offering insightful impulses and inspiration. For example, Ursi accompanied us during a significant field walk with local stakeholders to the Himmelmoor near Quickborn, helping us better understand the conditions for developing a co-creative project with those involved and supporting us accordingly. Additionally, the Team regularly develops the accompanying program for the Knowledge Exchange Fund, through which my research group has established a knowledge transfer project with fruit farmers. The team organizes and coordinates several events during the funding period to facilitate a creative and productive exchange among all partner projects. Thank you very much for your support!”

Annabell Lehne
City of Norderstedt, Department for Sustainable Norderstedt, Future City Coordination
“Thanks to the guidance from the Team Co-Creation & Engagement, we were able to incorporate specific scientific expertise into our citizen science project. Their support was prompt, dedicated, and tailored precisely to our needs. We especially appreciated the straightforward access to relevant contacts. A real added value!”

“Co-Creation can only succeed when engagement, openness, courage, and competence come together. Working with the Team Co-Creation & Engagement of the Knowledge Exchange Agency has been characterized by these essential elements from the very beginning. Only through such collaboration new ideas can become reality. In times like these, we need individuals and institutions that are capable of bringing people together rather than driving them apart.”

Prof. Dr. Laura Marie Edinger-Schons
Chief Sustainability Officer & Professor of Sustainable Business (UHH)
“From the very beginning of our activities within the Sustainability Office, a successful collaboration with the Team Co-Creation & Engagement of the Knowledge Exchange Agency was established. The Green Office, which was initiated and developed by Ursi Caser well before our time, enabled us to seamlessly integrate a dedicated group of motivated students into our projects. Since then, we have regularly worked together on various occasions, such as the kick-off of our certificate program at the JUPITER CAMPUS in 2023, the working group higher education within the ‘Hamburg Master Plan Education for Sustainable Development 2030’ (since 2024), and the planning of the City Nature Walks in 2025. Throughout, we have consistently benefited from Ursi and Claudia’s extensive expertise in co-creativity and participation. Thank you for the always inspiring exchange!”

“The Knowledge Exchange Agency’s Co-Creation & Engagement Center is UHH’s first and foremost provider and advisor in co-creation. The team takes their expertise to international weeks within EUGLOH and is our sparring partner for events, like the conference and workshop week with large-scale facilities. Their excellent advice is invaluable to our work.”

"Being co-creative is one thing—living co-creativity is another. I have been living and working for over 30 years in the heart of the Grindelviertel, right next to the University of Hamburg, and through my evening salons, I have for a long time built bridges between science and society.
Thanks to the work of Ursula Caser and Claudia Mendes, I also have a contact point at UHH where interdisciplinary formats can be conceived and questions explored in a creative and intellectual manner. Here, neighborhood managers, research, art, and culture come together in play and active engagement. The Team Co-Creation & Engagement embodies co-creation in the best sense."

Katharina Fries
AKTIVOLI-Landesnetzwerk Hamburg e.V., Project manager Haus des Engagements
"The expertise and offerings of the Team Co-Creation & Engagement are of great value to our work at the Haus des Engagements and at the AKTIVOLI network. They have enabled me to establish relevant contacts with researchers at UHH but also with other universities and non-profit organizations - a strong boost of energy for our outreach and partnership acquisition! Particularly the North Network Meetings, where Ursi and Claudia bring together academic and civil society stakeholders, and the digital Co.ol.Lab have revealed important thematic intersections for us. This allowed us to present a co-creative research project together with students and Interkulturelle Denkfabrik e.V., whose topic is the networking and empowerment of migrant organizations in Hamburg - and we connected with a research project at UHH with a similar thematic focus and created synergies. Thank you for existing!"
